Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve Stage

The Stage from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve is a route of 15 km, with an estimated duration of 5 hours, and can be considered a somehow difficult hike. This part of the route in the Stage of Vila Nova de Milfontes Almograve is in an urban context, and therefore not very interesting, but you were always able to appreciate the more commercial part of the village. Another option would be to cross the Mira River by boat and start the journey at Praia das Furnas, shortening the total distance a little to this Stage from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve. But you can decide to make the route from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve in its entirety, which will allow you to cross the river by the bridge, from where you can see from the top the village and the impressive River Mira. Leaving the national road, the trail from the Stage of Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve crosses the agricultural fields to descend to the river beaches and, further on, Praia das Furnas , a beautiful beach, with an extensive beach by the mouth of the River Mira. It passes through agricultural land that extends almost to the sea when you get closer to the coastline. This is a more rural part of the Vila Nova de Milfontes Stage to Almograve. From there the Stage of Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve becomes clearly dune, with a lot of sand on the trail, making progression more difficult. But the proximity of the sea makes the landscape much more spectacular, beginning to see the coast cut and worked by the water. It is not an area of high cliffs but the shapes that the rocks take are of a variety and beauty truly remarkable. The sand will be your companion from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve until almost the end. On and off the trail… you will pass through the extraordinary beach of Brejo Largo, where the extension of the sand and the beauty of the landscape again might surprise you. After a succession of small coves from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Almograve, you will arrive at the beautiful Foz dos Ouriços, from where you can observe in the distance the beach of Almograve, and where the path inflects inland, heading towards the village with the same name.
